Under dash kick panel/knee bolster......w140

Good morning all. Is anyone aware of the procedure to remove the driver's side, under dash kick panel/knee bolster on a w140 (93 600sel) ?
I have done the forum search routine; and tried to remove the panel by removing the visible screws. Even with these screws removed, the panel and knee bolster still feel like they are secured somewhere. Are the knee bolster and the underside plastic panel 2 separate pieces?
Thanx in advance

Hi. I have done this some time ago, and I don't have the car here to go out and look to refresh my memory. So here is what I remember. The black plastic under-piece separates from the carpeted part, which I believe I left in place. It all comes apart with screws, and there's one down near the brake pedal. It wasn't too pleasant, 'cause I had to lay on my back with a light to find the screws, head wedged next to brake pedal. Good luck!!

sura, thanx for your reply. I had removed the screws and the one near the brake pedal.. I didn't want to force anything. The plastic under piece and the carpeted bolster felt like one large section. I will give it another try, and yes it is a tad undignified with one's head in the footwell. Thanx again.

Mike, you are a lifesaver

Mike, I thought I was a bleedin' idiot, not being able to remove that panel. I am glad that I managed to restrain myself from a great huge yank on that panel. I will revisit the project this weekend. Again thanks, especially for the pics
