my astray door remains open. what holds it shut?

You didn't happen to remove or replace your stereo recently by any chance? The little plastic tabs that secure the factory unit can interfere with the ashtray.
Also, if any debris is lodged underneath the door, the clearance is pretty tight, so that might keep it from closing. There is no latch involved. Just gravity and friction.

thanks for the quick reply. i'd thought there might be
a latch of something to catch the door from springing out.
spring works out fine. normally, there is a click to shut it
close. will double check for debri. thanks and cheers.
