450sl 1974 heater

freak'n heater all of a sudden just blows and blows...guess the vent door is open all the time..so is it the vacuum valve on the firewall? anyway to get to the door and close it? whats the best thing to do? maybe someone knows how to fix it so it will work like it should...has the 4 lever type controlls...help before i get cooked.,..thanks
