Question Climate Control Regulator - 1989 300SE

Is anyone familiar with the little impeller device that connects to a hose to blow air into the climate control system? This "regulator" is located under the dash to the far right on the passenger side. Mine developed a nasty squeak and I was forced to disable it; however, what I've now found is that the climate control has a hard time holding a steady temperature.

I'm curious to know what the proper name for this device is and the realtive ease for a DIY replacement?

Thanks!

I believe it's called a Sampler Blower Motor...

Part # R3011-70122

You can buy it right here on this website..

That device sucks air through the vent in the dome light cluster. Behind the vent is the ACC cabin temp sensor. The cabin temp sensor doesn't get a good sampling of cabin air unless the motor is sucking air through the vent.

Thanks for the part # jay3000. So Sixto, the location of the blower on the 300SE is under the passenger dash in the footwell to the right, behind the carpeting that rises vertically along the fender. Are you saying that this blower, in its location, pulls air from the dome light area?

When you dig into the dash of a Mercedes, you'll find many strange things Wait until you have to sort out problems with directing air to the proper vents.

When that blower/sucker is working properly, it should be able to hold a strip of tissue paper over the vent. not a whole sheet, just enough to cover the vent. Make sure it's not static holding the tissue in place.

I'm hoping to replace this device without much incident. Appears to be a relatively simple DIY.

Thanks.
