noisy driveshaft inspected

i went to inspect my driveshaft today and i found that if hold the front of it tight and move the back part i can only feel like 1mm of play and a solid feel to it, but if i hold the back part and and move the front i can hear and feel like metal against metal from the big 41mm bolt and like 2mm of play

the noise is very loud, any ideas

What is the application?
I would recommend pulling it and having it checked out, repaired and balanced. Go ahead and replace the universal joint while it is out. I see you don't live around here and am not sure if there are companies around your area that rebuild driveshafts but I have used a company in Atlanta, Ga. USA called Driveline Service of Atlanta. They did a good job and it ran around US$250.
