Painters, Need Advise-Brake Fluid

There was a few drops of brake fluid spilled on the fender of a car, it left a mark about the size of a quarter, and a line (like a water line) on the side of the fender. It looks as if the brake fluid removed the clear coat. Is there any special preparation one has to do before painting the fender due to the brake fluid spill?

Thanks, enjoy your drive, timreid

A solvent must be used to clean the entire paint area of wax, oil or other contaminants. Typically Prepsol, enamel reducer or other cleaners specific to this task are used.

Different solvents/cleaners are used dependent on the existing paint and what's going to be sprayed on.

Thanks RickM, I wasn't sure if brake fluid is one of those chemicals that may cause a problem as bleeding back into the new paint, and had to be treated with a special process/chemical. Thanks for your reply, enjoy your drive, timreid

Brake fluid is not one of those chemicals that will cause 'fisheyes', like silicones and such. It is water soluble.
