The manual states the fan clutch engages when the engine operating temperature is about 95 C. It also states that it can be clearly heard. I don't seem to be able to tell the difference or the clutch has failed. Further a sheet of kleenex barely clings to the aux fan housing when the engine has reached almost 100C.
Am I nuts or is the fan clutch a goner? ------------------ 1991 350 SDL 114,000 miles |
The fan clutch on this car will not positively engauge, but rather will come on slow. The aux fans should run above the 105-110mark. Also the fans will come on with the A/C on when the temp on the condensor is up.

Unfortunately the fan seemed to run at the same speed from about 85 - 100C. The aux fans work fine on both high and low speeds.
Shouldn't the clutch speed things up in that temp range? ------------------ 1991 350 SDL 114,000 miles |
