Would chrome mirror covers look bad on S500?

I was wondering if chrome mirror covers would mess up the appearance of a 1995 S500 (W140) 4 door sedan.

anyone know?

It's a matter of taste and personal preference.

I am a fan of chrome...as long as the enhancements are subtle. Too much chrome can look gaudy.

Consider that in order for the "look" to work, it must complement other chrome features of the car. So if there is little or no chrome elsewhere, then the mirror covers would look out of place.

Earlier MBs had more liberal use of exterior chrome, but newer designs shunned much of the exterior flair in favor of cleaner, more streamlined profiles.

That being said, I like the chrome mirror covers...I plan to get a pair for my W124...and I have a different styling approach for that car than say, for my SL.

Many here wouldn't consider chrome wheels let alone chrome mirror covers...so I'll bet you'll get replies telling you otherwise.

Chrome stands out the most on vehicles with dark finishes. It draws the least attention on silver vehicles...

Too much chrome = pimp look. IMHO.

Put some tin foil and see for yourself.

I'm not a fan of non-factory chrome but the gray faces of the mirrors puzzle me. They were chrome on the 116 so it's not like you're doing something MB didn't do themselves.

An alternative is to paint them body or lower cladding color.

Talking chrome RV mirror backing

Can we get this in Satin Chrome, the matt look types? It wouldn't look so glaring as the polished chrome I guess. Then if the RV mirrors backs are either painted in body colour or chromed, then all the 4 door handles should also be done to match so the mirror backs won't stand out so much.
