Last 2 days I have been getting a loud squeak from my right fron wheelwell. I noticed it first when I turned the steering wheel, then as I hit bumps. If I push down on the right front bumper the squeak is reproducible as the car bounces up and down.

What do you guys think it is? shock, control arm? I know its hard to diagnose like this, but I want to be forarmed with a couple of possibilities when I take it to the mechanic. The wheel is not loose, and it is not coming from the brakes (which have full fluid in reservoir).
BTW the shocks work good, no bouncing when I push down, and I dont see any hydraulic fluid leaking.
Thanx

Usually the ball joint and or one of the tie rod ends is faulty. Have all of the links checked for wear.

It is not uncommon to see a broken front sway bar bracket on these cars, it is a flat metal arm about 1-1/2 X 6 inches and will be broken up around the bolt that mounts it at the top

Carrying on from the above, I have a 1987 300SL (107) with 117,000 miles on the clock. Could the same points as above apply to this car? Car also wanders over the road and wobbles under braking as if a wheel was loose. Something also contacts when steering at full lock as I can hear squeaking/rubbing noise at parking speeds. All wheels are balanced and recently aligned.

Thanks
