1985 300 TDT - Trans shifts very quickly - although "manually" shifting is just fine. Getting up to speed very smooth (after 20 with very good pick up) - 60, 70, 80 mph no problem. Just had filter, fluid, modulator changed. Bowden cable adjustments never made a difference, even disconnected - no change in shift timing. Anyway - was told by indie mechanic that it was adjusted fine. He also check/cleaned valve body - okay. Kick down does not engage - there is power at switch when depressed. Do NOT know if power is getting to solenoid - not sure where it is? (Front or back does wire attach to cylinder that can be pulled out - can I check here for 12 volts by grounding? I have checked vacuum - from "T" in line going to booster - at idle = 19 inches. Checked vacuum at "vac" line on blue amplifier (driver side fender close to booster?) at idle = 20 inches, with 1/4 throttle "click" happens at 3 way (black plastic elect controlled) valve, near vac (transducer - that feeds EGR and recirc valve on turbo) - this 3 way clicks and vac drops suddenly to about 12 inches - then goes right back up to 20 inches - with more throttle, vac does not change at all - if I let go of throttle a little and rev it a again - I might be able to get it to click/drop vacuum again, otherwise, vacuum does not change. Also - there is no linear drop in vacuum with increased throttle. If I check "bleed valve" (on IP?) for drop off of vac with throttle, which vac line am I checking? Is it the one at the top? Thanks for any help/ideas? If I run car without vac line to modulator - I do not detect a noticable difference - but then again I only just started doing these kinds of things (transmission diagnosis anyway) Steve
