Question Slow downshift ....HARD 1st to 2nd gear shift?

Hello...My '83 300cd with about 150,000 miles runs excellent but shifts very hard from 1st to 2nd gears and also reacts very slowly when I attempt to accelerate-it takes quite a few seconds to downshift and feels very sluggish until the downshift occurs. Is this the result of an old shift modulator or is it simply out of adjustment? Or is there another problem? Thanks for your help...Loren

Sounds like an old shift modulator but it could also be a rotted rubber connector tube between the plastic vaccum line from the engine and the modulator.

Someone posted about this about three or four months ago and said the difference was amazing.

Check your vaccum lines and their connectors.

Modulators do go bad.

Thank you

I will try a new modulator this week, as they are only about $30 and the problem is annoying! I'll keep ya posted...Loren
