Has anyone taken on the job of replacing
a timing chain in the forum? I am considering doing the job myself with a helper. Any advice, caveats, etc.? Or better yet any detailed instructions on how to do this? I might add the car is an '84 190e 2.3 |
On this car, you can do it, but I'd take it to the shop to have the oiler update done. If you do it yourself, be sure to replace the timing chain tensioner and the sprocket.
This is a ratchet type tensioner that should be reset (even when new) before installation. ------------------ Benzmac: 1981 280GE SWB 1987 16V ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
