HI,

My EGR tube is blocked on 96 C280. Tried reaming from the egr value output and also tried from the intake below the butterfly, using procedure from this forum. No success.

I will probally have to remove the tube. Is this blockage usually in the tube or in the manifold and will removing the tube to clean it out be a major job.


Are there additional attachments than the 2 10mm manifold bolts and the connection to the EGR valve?

The blockage is usually at where the steel pipe bolts to the intake. The carbon that plugs it is not from the EGR. It is PCV oily vapors inside the intake that bake out on the extremely hot (by comparison) connection. You will not have to remove the pipe just pull it back and the blockage will be in view.
