Pulling Codes '83 380sel

I dont have any problems yet (crosses fingers) that require a code pull, but would like to know how to do that in the future. I know from experience on some domestics that a paper clip is all you need on the horizontal code pull interface. I dont fancy doing this on my benz, and dont even see one in the cab. I found a round, capped port under the hood that looks like a VERY large SCSI or parallel port on a computer (for those computer geeks like me). Is this the proper place to pull?

Also, now that I have beat around the bush on it, where can I get a code puller for that and how much?

Thanks for any input!

There isn't any computer that has any kind of memory on the 1983 cars!
Does your car have a problem?

No, no problems, yet....

But I was wondering if there was a way to pull them. Is that the proper place to pull them if one occurs?

Err, I guess I am asking if htat is the diagnostic port.

Thanks,
