This is a photo of a subframe mount in the 87 300SDL. Astute viewers will notice that I reused the old subframe mount bolt. The process of getting the bolt in with a fresh mount requires abusing the bolt. I figured I'd let the old bolt take the abuse then when the mount settles, I'll put the new bolt in place.
BTW, don't those bolts look like 50 caliber rounds? Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

Don't tell anyone... Shhhhhhhhhh...
I used $4.00 worth of coil spring spacers to restore my ride height.. It took about 30 minutes.. Oh well, the car is 14 years old.. Every bushing, and support in it probably needs replacing.. Where do I stop??? Just another option for you..

JAY3000: Did you need spring compressors for this job?

I think you release the load on the spring by lifting that wheel then insert rubber H's so the spring can't collapse as much.

SIXTO:The third mount you are refering to[ the one under the differential] is that called the rear subframe mount?

In FastLane it's called a differential mount but it's listed under transmission parts. What FastLane calls a subframe bushing kit under suspension parts is a set of two subframe mounts and two bumpers. Doesn't include the differential mount.

They are also called spring knuckles ...
Make sure you located them where they won't rub against anything. I install two on each side of the 300's rear springs after being sent the wrong replacement springs ..... Haasman
