Lightbulb opinion pls conversion kit from D Jet or cis

Has anyone tried converting from the old D jet or CIS to a programmable type injection, it seems cheaper then buying a MAP or ECU for over a grand!!! but does it work

Converting D-Jetronic should be easy because it's already pulsed injection. All you really need to do is get a programmable ECU to replace the D-Jet ECU and maybe fit a GM MAF. Converting K-Jetronic is a little more work because you have to replace the always spraying injectors with pulsed injectors and somehow adapt an air cleaner directly to the throttle body. Maybe just rip the plate out of the K-Jet air flow meter. Then there's fuel rails, fuel pressure regulator, etc. You might be able to use D-Jetronic stuff.

Frankly, I'd pick the inate limp home abilities of K-Jet over an EFI conversion.
