I just purchaced a 1985 380se which has a fluid leak at the power steering box. Is there a seal kit, or does the hole unit need to be replaced(it feels/drives fine). Also, I see that there is a maintance cd available for my model, do you recommend I get it for doing basic engine repairs.

The CD will greatly improve your chances of getting the mechanical repairs done quickly and right the first time...
There is a reseal kit offered for the P/S sector, however, I STRONGLY suggest that you leave this up to a certified tech. There are specific rotational frictions that should be set up inside of a sector after coming apart. Take it from me and leave this to the pro. ------------------ Benzmac: 1981 280GE SWB 1987 16V ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
