560SEL Rear Levelling Reservior

What does the rear, self-levelling reservoir look like when full? Is there a mark on the plastic that indicates full that I don't see? My rear rides high, Actuators were replaced just before I bought the car in August. But the levelling doesn't adjust. I have to get under the rear and play with the lever, but i don't even know what the level looks like when full. Help!

Your car probably has the same system that is on my both of my TDs. You should able to locate the hyd. fluid res., somewhere towards the front of the engine bay. There shuold be some sort of arrow marking to mark the full point. The level controler should be located in around the rear diff. It should be an aluminum box with an arm attaching itself to the rear sway bar. I would strongly recommend not messing with it with the car sittin of the ground. Put the backend on a set of ramps. This way should it suddenly lower, you won't get hurt.

The resivor is attached to the radiator support on the left side. Pull the the dipstick out of the the top{twist and pull} and read the level.

By looking at the bottle, it should be about 8\10`s full or the top rib of the resivor

Thanks John & Rick. I had no idea that it was a dipstick. It doesn't really look like something that should come off. The cannister is about 1/2 full, so it doesn't even register on the scale. Next step, fill it up and see if that helps. Thanks again!

You only need to fill the resevoir to the upper rib of the bottle. That will be just a hair above the retaining spring that wraps around the bottle. Be sure to use only the Mercedes suspension fluid.
