420 sel headlight wipers
I just bought a 1986 420 sel, and I cant seem to locate how to operate the headlight wipers, it's really not not a big deal here in So Cal, but they are pretty cool. thank you. My new e mail is L.Bevilacqua@verizon.net

If yours are like the rest in that series, the headlamp wipers operate only if either the parking or headlamps are turned in AND you cycle the windscreen washer. After the cycle, the wipers shut off. They do not operate continuously, as if they were miniature windscreen wipers

Exactly.
Teutonic efficiency at its finest. Why add another switch to the dashboard? You only need clean headlights when they're on, right? And logically, you only need to clean them when the windshield is dirty, too, right? Or at least that's what I suspect the engineers thought processes were. This info is in the owner's manual. If you don't have one, call 1-800-FOR MERC and they will be delighted to sell you one!
