98 W140 S Class Sideview Mirror ....HELP

Hey guys.. what is involved in the whole driver side mirror assembly??? my uncles car's is broken.. its sagging almost about to fall off.. what is involved on the internals?? anything replaceable..??? mirror is fine.. its just that the whole assembly is being held on by tape now.. hehe..


help me out ASAP..

Fairly easy! the key to removal is the plastic cover around the mirror frame. Push the mirror toward the door glass & you can see that the cover is held on with a spring loaded wire. Just use a screwdriver to repease the wire & the cover will slide off & then you will see the mounting screws.

Backing out of my garage, I broke my mirror on a CLK320.


Turned out that the mounting tabs on the adjusting motor broke (so mirror was left hanging) and the mirror cover had a crack.

I was able to buy the needed replacement parts (new motor and cover) from the dealer for a couple of hundred bucks and repair everything from the outside in less than an hour (no need to take entire mirror off the car).

BTW...the replacement cover came prepainted from the factory.
