'03 E55 Keyless Go Question

My first post on this board. Picked up my '03 E55 Saturday, and love it. When I keep the key in my pocket, and open the door to either enter or exit the car, a chime sounds, and the display says something like "don't leave your key in the car." Very annoying, and the dealer's tech looked into it and said it can't be disabled. I find this chime very annoying, and am wondering if anyone knows if/how it can be disabled. Thanks in advance, and I look forward to participating in this forum.

That is the KG reminder warning telling you to not leave your
keys in the car. All MB's with Keyless-Go display that with a door
open. It is not defeatable, The only way to turn it off is to tell
the Cluster that the vehicle does not have KG. The draw back of that is, KG will become inoperative.
Maybe someday down the road we will have the programming ability to turn just that beeper off. Unfortunately not yet.
Sorry.

Thanks for the quick response. I understand the logic (actually, I do for when exiting the car, but it also does it when entering the car!), but I still find it very annoying. I'm fine with the display saying something, but would prefer not hear the annoying chime. Apparently this is how it's set for German cars (chime off) so there must be a way to disable the chime. I've complained to my dealer, and hopefully enough others will and MB will get the message.

The programming options (Version coding) between US and EU
cars varies. Some of the options they can activate like speed limiters (LIM), warning chimes, and other functions are un-available to us due to our USA licensed Diagnostic Computers.
Sometimes as a model gets a year or two old, the programming options increase for that model as we update our machines monthly.
When your 55 goes in for it's first visit, maybe the tech can check for you to see if it can be done. I would ask for a Foreman however.
Enjoy your new car. They really are a kick in the pants!
