my '94 SL500 key sucks!!!

Why in the h*** did MBZ make a key that you can't put a key chain on????? I called the dealership in Austin, Texas and readily told me - "NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT" so I asked if the black case is available due to the later model keys come with keychain loop at the end, again, they said >"NOPE.... no replacement"

Anybody have any source for the black casing of the laser cut key with a keychain loop on it?????!?!

Thanks

I am not sure your key looks the same as my 95's. I can put a key chain on mine. I have a MB three pointed star key chain but no keys on the chain.

It is not advisable to put keys with you car key as the weight will damage your ignition switch. Do a search on the forum and there have been plenty of discussiona on this topic. So MB is doing you a favour so you don't have to end up paying $$ to replace your ignition switch.

If you order a new key from MB, it should come as the 95-97 style
which has the smaller case and keychain loop. Those early 91 to
94 style keys are no longer available, so you will get the newer
style.
The early keys chip board and batteries won't fit in a later key case.
*****Disclaimer***** If you order a new key and the Baltimore
Key Warehouse finds an old school key siting on a shelf, you may
still get the old style. That being said, I am exempt from any voo-doo curses or punishment if that happens.
Good luck.
