Need advise-BG 44k
 

Need advise-BG 44k cleaner.

I understand to get the full and immediate benefit of this system cleaner it can be added directly into your engine by using one of the engine vacuum lines when the engine is running, then turn off the engine for 15 minutes, then drive the car.
Would someone tell me the location and which vacuum line to use on my 400E engine?

The following URL doesn't address BG-44K, but another product that does more or less the same thing. I seem to recall mention in this post as to how it was force-fed into a particular system.

Read all Mike and I agree. I'm so old I remember when we sprayed water in the carb, to help decarb. I read, but I did not find or missed the answer, were I can feed the BG-44k into my 400E, I'm not quite sure how to do? Handling the chemical is not a problem for me, spent 26 years in a chemical plant, appreciate some help.

There's a large metal vacuum line that comes out of the center front area of the intake manifold. It eventually goes to the brake booster, and if you follow it from the intake when you get towards the front of the engine you'll see a coupling. That's where I opened up my system, and I found a piece of clear tubing that inserted snugly into the end of the vacuum line, thereby leading directly to the intake.

That done, I started the car, then inserted to hose into the BG-44k-it sucked ithe whole can in in about 3-4 seconds...very quickly. Since you're supposed to shut off the car just as you finish administering the 44K, I'd suggest you enlist the aid of a friend to man the ignition switch.

Since many forum readers have diesels, it's good to reiterate that these products are for "spark ignited" engines only. NO DIESELS. Just a heads up for some readers.:)

I've used 44K in my cars since about 1990. A can in the gas tank in the spring and fall kept my assorted Volvos, a Porsche and a VW free of fuel system problems. It was originally introduced to me by a mechanic who worked on a VW my wife drove years ago. I haven't spoken to a mechanic since that did not agree that it was useful stuff. I'll guess MB dealer Mechs say it's no good since MB repeatedly states NO ADDITIVES in their literature. It's worked for me in the tank. I 've never tried the direct method nor had a reason to. I'll try some in the E320 tank this fall unless someone convinces me that it harms MB's? If it is damaging to MB's, I wonder why??:confused:

David E320, interesting statement about BG products and MB dealers/mechanics, I've been in a lot of MB and BMW dealers who have BG products on their shelves. You know there are those black magic products and the excellent products that work, like BG.

I agree with David's approach - add it to the gas. Does one really need to force feed 16oz of anything to the engine in 3-4 seconds?

Concerning the BG product it can be used : 1. add to gas tank 2. or directly into the engine, BG has an Inject-A-Flush® Apparatus. Adding the product directly into the engine systems is just a more efficient way.
