96 C280 Cylinder Head Weight?
Hi,
When I do the cylinder head gasket replacment will I need an engine crane to lift the head off? Or is the head light enough for two men to lift it off the block? Alldata specifies using a crane to lift it off. Thanks

you should be able to lift on your own, but that depends on how big the head, you didn't specify anything else.
I have a friend who not only pulled the head off his 4 cylinder, but the block too, so it is doable. xp

I got an M103 head and manifolds off by myself. I wouldn't try to put it back on my own. Two should be able to do it. Maybe another properly situated pair of eyes to guide the head into place.

Thanks, I have information that confirms that the problem may not be lifting the head with two people but alignment in the reinstall without risking damage the mating surface without a third person viewing the alignment. I have decided to use an engine crane for the lifting and replacement of the head solely for the purpose of precise control. The head is much to expensive to risk the damage.
It is my understanding that Alldata specifies to use a lift and leaving the exhaust manifold and lower intake mainfold in place when removing the head. Thanks for all of your input.
