When I put my 1991 500SL into park, then rpm goes to around 1500 rpm. Sometimes after 1 minute the rpm resumes to 500-1000 rpm.
Is there a idle control switch that handles this function?

This could be a throttle valve idle switch or a faulty idle speed actuator.
