w124 Electric Seat Broken

On my 1989 300E on the passenger side the seat will not go down in the front. All of the other functions work except the seat moving up and down in the front. The seat is stuck with the front all of the way up. This makes it very uncomfortable for my passsenger ainly my girlfriend. Is there way to test the motor to see if it is the motor. Or another possible fix. My girlfriend thanks you ahead of time

I posted to a similar thread from you yesterday, but I don't know what happened to the thread!

Anyway, on our W201, you can swap the right/left seat switches. The buttons control the wrong things, but this will isolate whether it's the motor or the switch. This will also allow you to leave the passenger seat in an acceptable position, if it's the switch.

I would also double check ALL of the electrical connections under the seat. If the seat has ever been out, or worked on, it is possible for the leads to have been misrouted. When that happens as simple adjustment of the seat position can cause a disconnect, or partial disconnect, of the connector ends.

After I replaced the leather and rebuilt the seats on the 560, I was function testing the adjustments. On the driver's seat I placed it to extremes, then went to restore the position. Everything worked except raising the seatback. About 10 minutes of head scratching accompanied by nautical vocabulary was required before I settled down and started at the simple stuff _ the connection. Looking under the seat I found one connector that had been pulled taut and partially disconnected.

Check the connections then the switches before condeming the adjustment motors.

Check those switches. The w124 seat motors are lifetime lubed, they never fail. Those seat switches are crap, I bet its the switch.
