how many had Evaporator failure on r129/w140..
How many of you r129 or w140 owners had your evaporator fail???And what did you do to fix it ?? Did you bite the bullet and paid 3K?? Or did it yourself??? I've heard that this procedure is a 27 hr labor rating... Please tell me your nice endings and not so nice endings to this horrific situation...hints to those who dare explore this problem. Thanks in advanced

European vehicle manufacturers seem to like to "bury" the evaporator deep in the bowels of the cockpit!
Had it replaced on my W124. Fortunately the $1800 price tag was covered under my extended warranty. Had a 92 Jag that needed one. Estimated 26 hrs. of labor at about $2600 including parts...decided to sell the Jag and buy the R129. Crossing my fingers this year...dealing with the roof hail damage thing ya know...
