catalytic converter

My mother's 1988 190e 2.3 shift's very hard even after the car has warmed up. I just found that she her catalytic converter removed and tranny rebuilt.
Her car shifts very hard in every gear almost to the point of having whip lash. Also there is delay when shifting from 1st to 2nd, then "bam" next gear. Her car also burning fuel rather quickly. Gas mileage sucks
Question: By removing the catalytic converter will affect the way her car shifts right?
Question: What do I need to do to get her car to shift smoothly.

Thank You

I doubt it..

Your catalyic converters duties are to reduce emissions.. So i doubt it will affect shifting, BUT some cats have O2 sensors on them if those are damaged, than that will greatly affect acceleration.. Why don't u just go back to where you got your tranny rebuilt and get them to fix the problem? I believe that is where your problem really lies..

what did they do? install a shift kit?

The shop could get their butt in a heap of trouble for removing and not replacing the catalytic converter.
