Replacing window rubbers. And which Haynes?

hi everyone,

i'm about to replace the exterior window seal rubbers at the bottom of all four windows and decided i'd just get some thoughts before i take the car apart and break something!

i'm not sure how to go about this and would be interested in any procedures and tips that any of you might be able to pass on.

thanks for your help.

also. i tried to buy a Haynes manual but they didn't seem to publish one for 200 series petrol engines. they do one for 200 series diesels, but i'm not sure if this covers petrol engines too. if anyone knows the correct haynes manual number for a 1982 W123 200t i would be very interested to know it.

thanks once again for all your help.

Funny, didn't see a Haynes manual for W123 Petrol (200).

For what it's worth, here is a list of what Haynes has to offer for W123s :

MB 200, 240, 300 Diesel (Oct 76 - 85) up to C = Book No. 1114

MB 250 & 280 (123 Series) (Oct 76 - 84) up to B = Book No. 0677

Doesn't seem like they have one for a petrol W123 200.

thanks,

i wonder if the first one you mentioned covers petrol engines as well, as i'm not aware that there was ever a 200 diesel. but then just to confuse things, it doesn't mention the 230!

trouble is no one seems to stock the book anymore so i can't just open it and see. surely Haynes covers the petrol w123s, there are so many out there.

thanks once again.

You've made a good point.

However, it was interesting to note that the Haynes manual for my 190e specifically mentions "Petrol & Diesel" at the end of the title.

Anyway, it seems Brooklands publishes a service manual which covers th W123 200 Petrol version.

Here are the links :

http://www.autoinprint.freeserve.co.uk/mercedes%20manuals.htm

http://www.brooklands-books.com/pages/mercwm.html

They are UK sites.

Cheers.

Ooops...

I meant Brooklands DISTRIBUTES the manual.

Here's a shot of the front cover.

Good luck.

Probably not...

Norm

That manual covers models from 1968 to 1972 and is not specific to the 200, so it may not be of help to Jab's '82 W123 200.
