Noise when pressing the brake pedal ...

... on my 95 E420, I get some kinda whining noise (low pitch) when I depress the brake pedal. It seems to be coming from pedal or the spring area although I can't see it since it is covered down there. Would some lube spray be in order here? Any advise on how to take care of this? Thanks.
