97 e320 tranny question
i had all sorts of vibrations with the car. i replaced the flex disc and also the tranny mount.
no more vibrations............but when the car is cold and at speeds below 40mph i feel a distinct vibration as soon as the car/torque converter locks in (feels like radio speaker distortion) is there a adjustment on the tranny mount where it is bolted on to the suppension. i noticed the bracked was slotted when i fitted it???? the car has done 64000 milles........could this be the start of trouble with transmission?? your comments are most appreciated.. |

When the lock up clutch engages at that speed, it should be under computer controlled slip in order to dampen vibrations. It is possible that is is fully locking for some reason. Slip at that speed should be around 60 rpms or so.

UPDATE
the car still locks up at 35 m.p.h. and a bad vibration is felt up to 45 mph. i had a shop run codes but nothing except at some time a code was loaded for bad selector switch. unplugged the tranny computor and ran car below 4000rpm for 33 minutes for it to adapt. (does this sound like correct procedure?) problem is still there. it is not that noticable when trans. is warm. ANY RESPONSE WOULD BE APPRECIATED |
