Question engine life

i am hearing about diesels with bent rods with relatively low mileage i own a 92 sd300 with 150k miles oil consumption a tad high in my opinion 1 qt every 850 miles but runs great 30mpg no major engine work other than standard maintenance should i be concerned?

Not much you can do now or could have done when the car was new to keep the rods straight. Keep checking the oil and get opinions on whether it might be something 'fixable' like a bad turbo seal or valve seals.

There's speculation that gunk that builds up in the intake tract gets into the combustion chamber and causes the rod problems. Read up on this in the archives. If you subscribe to the thinking, have your intake manifold and crossover pipe cleaned at a machine shop and rest easier.
