300E Speedo - displays FAST!
 

OK, the speedo on our 1992 300E started showing about 2X the actual speed. But now it's getting worse. My daughter said she got passed going 160! Odometer looks like it's working fine. Any thoughts?

BTW, every once in a while it goes back to working fine.

Well, since I didn't get any answers, I thought I'd post the solution:

At some point in time, someone greased the back of the speedo where the cable goes in. After time, the grease ran down the cable and into the sensor, screwing up the sensor. Had it cleaned and it works fine. I understand this isn't an uncommon problem.
