Idle Speed Contact Switch
Where is it and what does an IDLE SPEED CONTACT SWITCH do?
My car's idle is tending to surge a little at start and but mostly when the engine has been warmed up. Doesn't come close to dying but more tends to be roving and surging up for no apparent reason. Is the switch part of the assembly that includes attachment to the bowden cable? There are 3 places, I believe, that you can make adjustments including the bowden cable. What are and how do you determine the proper adjustments for these? Thanks. |
The idle contact switch is part of the throttle ACTUATOR. As long as the linkage doesn't bind & returns all of the way you shouldn't have a linkage problem.

Posting your car model, year, and engine would help. Many have two switches that are important to idle function - one on the throttle linkage and the other on the end of the throttle butterfly shaft.
