Thanks for the heads-up. I've been thinking about a new one ever since these beauty was state of the art.

I think I'll pick up a new one. Either that or upgrade my cable tie.

Now, does anyone know of any great deals for a compatible temp probe? The Sears one only goes to 500F, and is $30. Fry's online service has a very elemental Fluke one for $12, but it is not immersible and also limited to 500F. Cole-Parmer has a rugged full-range one for $22 I might go with, and a really nice one for $37. Both those are immersible.

I notice that the one I pictured has temp settings. What's that for?

That's for plugging in a type-K thermocouple temperature probe, not included. Potentially, the meter will read -4F to 1400F, if the probe can take it.

Hey Norman, I'll check into the postage to send 1 of them to ya'.

Speedybenz- Current/amps = same thing. Amps is the unit of measure for current.

Yes, Norman.

I will go to local U.S. Post office and find out how much to send to you. Could you email me your address just in case I need it?

Frank

I just got mine!

This is a heck of a deal for $20! Just a note though, if you want to measure temperature with it , then you have to buy a Type K thermocouple to go with it. I didn't realize that till I was out of the store. I'll have to make another trip to the city for that and that'll mean another lunch at Hooter's...... Such is life!:p

Sheesh!

What a life you guys have on that side of the pond.

Hooters selling thermocouples too, still I suppose temperatures do get raised there too occasionally

Guys, you should have waited. The multimeter meter (pn 3482146) in now on sale for $17.99. I just bought one. It also includes a holster, two spare fuses, test leads, ac voltage detector and an ownes's manual. Cheap at twice the price.

Sears also has an interesting electronic torque cell that you use with a 1/2 in. socket and a multimeter. Its a bit dear at $149.00 but it is interesting. I have never tightened a bolt that needs to be that accurate but one never knows.

That's a great unit but it doesn't have the features that the 3482139 has, in particular the duty cycle that can check lambda.

You should bring it back and get the other while they still have some .

Plus, that one is only $2 off their Reg price..

Off the subject ...but...

In the instructions, it says that this meter will measure up to 1400 degrees F. The only thermocouples that I see in the Sears site only go to 500 deg. Am I missing something? I may want to measure my BBQ grill fire or something.

Many of us , me most certainly, would never have known about this gizmo had it not been for Larrybible. I for one would just like to say THANKS LB.
