C230 Coupe ('03): Buzzing From Sun Roof

I have an '03 C230 Kompressor Coupe. Very pleased with the car, however, has anyone experienced a loud buzz that comes from the wind deflector when the sun roof is open? It begins around 50 mph and it doesn't seem to matter if the side windows are open or closed or whether the A/C is on or off. At first I thought it was a noise coming from the light switch pod, but when I pull on the deflector it seems to lessen the noise. Any ideas?? -Jim

The buzz could be coming from the L and R side b-pillars where
the seatbelt adjustment button is. Very common.
Next time you are driving and hear the buzz, put your hand on the plastic sliding portion of the seatbelt height adjuster.
That is the most common buzz I hear about from my clients.
Good luck.

Wind Noise

On Model year 03 The W203 Coupe had a Sunroof Deflector Change ..The Late 03s Have a Small BLOCK at the Center of the Front Wind Deflector panel. ...It Works..!Less Noise!

Mark,

Thanks much for the tip!! I've contacted my service advisor at Calabasas, Calif. MBZ to let him know about the mod.

Very pleased with the car other than this annoyance.

Question C230 Coupe ('03) Buzzing From Sun Roof

Mark,

I took the car in to Calabasas (Calif) Motorcars and they had it for four days. Of course, they came back with 'No Problem Found.' They really wanted to help me, and when I shared your comments with them they checked the components of the sun roof. They said I had the 'latest and greatest' even though the car is early production '03 (June of 2002). (??) T hey also said they ordered a CD from MBZ to be able to check all the components and everything looked normal. I also went on a drive with the Shop Foreman and of course, no buzz! But when I drove the car the same evening, I had no trouble whatsoever getting the VERY LOUD buzz to occur at about 45 mph, sun roof all the way open. I'm beginning to think that when the car has been sitting in the sun, things expand and the buzz doesn't occur. I thoroughly cleaned out the channel under the air deflector and tightened the two pair of screws. I see a small, horizontal rubber block close to the center of the channel. Is this what you were referring to? If not, PLEASE provide me with more specific information so that I can relay it to my service advisor. And, any data from MBZ you have. The buzz is extremely loud and very annoying. Thanks much, Jim

The Next Time you are at The Dealer......Take your Service advisor and the Shop foreman out to the New car Lot and Point out the NEW Style Front Sunroof deflector...That SHOULD Work!
