FInding the Chassis type
Hello All,
I'm trying to order brake pads for my 1996 C220 and the website asks for a "chassis range". How do I find this number? It also asks if I have the Anti-Skid COntrol but the owner's manual states there is a button on the center console to deactivate it...and I don't have it, so I guess this isn't on my car. Being VERY new to Mercedes DIY, I'm not sure about the reference to this car being a "W202". Under the hood of the car, it shows a number stating "A202" Can you enlighten me? Thanks!! |

I'm pretty sure you can use the last 6 digits of the VIN in checking chassis range.
Your car is definitely a W202. I don't know what A202 referes to but it could be valid as well. I can't help you with anti-skid control. Sixto 95 S420 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

The front pads seem to be the same for all 96 202 chassis c220s.
The rears are different by chassis number and by whether you have ASR or not. The code of the option is given in the EPC when the car is entered by chassis number. Actually only on the early chassis number variant is the traction control system an issue. After the break all versions use the same pads.
