seat switch 4 300e
hi everyone,
could anybody help me with info on where i can buy a seat switch for the drivers seat on my 300e 2.6 1990. the back part of the seat is stuck in the back position. thanx in advance. |
this appears to be a common wear and tear replacement item- - you can use a number of sources for new switch (no memory):
dealer- about $100 here are fastlane about $80 + shipping other on-line MB parts retailers hope this helps- easy fix if its the switch that has gone dead- -seat motors seem to be more robust vs. the switc! -fad |
Hopefully it is the switch. Cheaper/easier than other possibilities
Could try the used route to save $$. Try: http://www.uneedapart.com I read somewhere that these things can be cracked open and cleaned, but I have no further details. You may want to test the switch with a multi-meter before pre-emptively replacing it. You could also jump the seatback terminals to prove the motor will operate. |
thanks -Fad and Csnow for your ideas,i'll try to put them to
use this weekend. |
Try this (temporary)
I had a switch that would only work partially (would only make the seat back move, not the seat cushion go back & forth).
I removed the adjusting knob, took a can of electrical contact cleaner, put the small tube into the spray head, inserted the tube through the opening into the switch and gave it a shot. I immediately replace the knob and moved the seat position to where I wanted it. Temporary fix but it worked for me. Switches are easy to replace but (for a small electrical part) rather expensive. I think I paid $80-90 for mine. |
