Well I decided that it was worth the swap, my Alfa 200GTV for this 745i Turbo I had in mind. Got it home today and was very impressed with its performance. I am glad to have finally found a suitable replacement for my 6.9. While it's not quite up to Benz standards, being European spec, it will really blow the socks off unsuspecting motorists. I was concerned early on about the availability of parts and a shop manual, but quickly sourced a set of original BMW microfiche repair films and have found a good parts source for European BMW parts. This particular car was imported directly from Germany in the late '80s so therefore the instruments are still in metric measurements and the lettering on the switches and dials is in German. Cool!

Matter of fact, I do have some pics of the Jensen. As I'm still trying to figure out how to use this website builder software I have, all pics of my cars I did have digitized (including 6.9 burnout pic!!) and will soon have them up on the web. The Jensen is a super cool car because not many people recognize it, and it's wonderful to drive while blasting down the interstate. Even more impressive was and is the very limited production Jensen Interceptor FF. FF standing for Ferguson Formula, which was an all wheel drive system developed by Harry Ferguson for road going super hybrids. I wish I could even find an FF on this side of the Atlantic! They held the fastest 0-120-0mph record for a long long time, even through the '80s I think. Very awesome cars. If you know what a regular Interceptor looks like, you can spot an FF by checking the front fenders for two cooling louveres instead of one, like my car has. Anyhow, as far as the BMW goes, I think I'm going to have a fun time with this Bavarian sleeper. I'd have kept the Alfa but rust was beginning to take hold, and I lucked out to find a guy who wanted one to restore and wanted to get rid of his very nice 745i at the same time! Once again, there are those lucky stars! :)

What year 'Vette do you own? I had a '68 Stingray which I lent to a friend and found abandoned in a cornfield the next day. Yikes! The only other problem with a Corvette is that you have to keep an eye on it wherever you park it. But overall, they are very cool cars. I mean, Dirk Diegler had one :cool:

I've driven Jensens.........and Ferrari,DeTomaso,Bugatti,Lotus,Falcon GHTO,Alfas,Porsches,BeeEms and most of the bread and butters.
Best car I've ever driven is my '76 MB 450SLC ...one of the few with performance engine and hydraulic struts on the arse end.

Jensons are pommie cars and dont count. Same as Yank cars......:0

Please describe to me what a Falcon is in Australia. They haven't made a Falcon in the US since 1970. Back in the sixties and seventies I had some great Ford built muscle cars, still have a seventies four wheel drive with 400 Cleveland motor.

I'm very interested in knowing about the Ford performance line in Australia.

I drove an SLC like you're speaking of once. It was a great handling car as well as adequate power to go with it, in spite of being choked by US emissions laws.

I've driven those cars ....but not an authority....still love my 450sl c even if I cant afford fuel...Glad I've got the Bug.

I work on Benz for a quid and love them.

The Ford Falcon GTHO had a very victorious record in the touring car series in the '70's here.

Mount Panorama is as interesting as Hurgering is in GPL.
