I currently have a problem with the electrics at the dash assembly of the above model.
The dash lights come on and off when the car goes over a bump Or during operation of the wiper blades after few sweeps the dash lights goes on n off like a chrismas tree??? I believe its a short circuit in the wiring. Will it cause the whole electrical system to cut-off and stall? Any rectification method instead of changing the whole assembly that could be costly? Please advise from any member with such experience. |

I have replaced 10 or so of these clusters for this problem. I have not seen it cause a problem otherwise.

BEEN THERE, HAD IT!
This is a fairly common malady on the early 140 models. MBUSA knows this and because of it offer a rebuilt exchange cluster at the dealer. The price is less than a new one but not by much. I sent my defective cluster out to be repaired and got it back quickly...and with the same speedo(correct).
The price was less than half of MBUSA and with the same warranty period. I also drove the car after filling the tank(the gas gauge is gone) the whole time it was out, only had to watch my speed more closely! Good luck, TobiasMB 4 MBs |
