2000 S Class

I searched and could not find exactly what I was looking for. A freind of mine came to me and asked me what to be aware when looking at a 2000 S class. Or should he stay away from that year since it was the first year intoduced. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

When in doubt about purchasing a car from the first year it was introduced, there is one simple solution: BUY THE NEXT YEAR MODEL!

Resolved. Tell him to get the 2001. The first year after any creation, the original is critiqued so heavily that the next year's model is likely the best one out there.

Regards.

The W220 S-Class was introduced in Germany in late 1998 as a 1999 model. M-B introduced the line in 2000 in the U.S. A. after MANY complaints were issued during the first 1999 year run in Europe.

2000 model year S-class still were plaged with many troubled issues, most of them related to faulty electronics and suspension failures.

2001 mode year improved, but not that much. Most issues were resolved (including pathetic interior plastic quality) until its recent facelift at late 2002.

Conclusion: I would avoid 1999-2000-2001 W220s S-classes and if I am definitely interested in buying one, I'll hold for a 2003 or later model year.

In production runs, usually the BEST years in the life cicle of a car model (especially Mercedes-Benzes) are the LAST two years of production (were most production problems have been resolved).

The court has considered the people's motion of continuing this case until the year of 2003.

Buying a car is arguably the second most important investment in one's life; behind that of purchasing a home. It requires devotion, planning and most importantly, a sound mind. The faults that have been brought into evidence trouble the court and as a result, I can't reasonably --with a sound mind-- encourage the plaintiff to purchase it.

Therefore.....after weighing the evidence the court deems it appropriate to support the ideologies behind the people's motion.

Motion granted. Thereby placing the defendant (2000-2002 S Class models) under supervised probation.
