rear sway bar bushings - do they come cut on one side

I just received the bushings for the rear sway bar on my '86 300E and I was suprised to find that they were slit on one side.

Is that they the way they come for ease of assembly?

Yes, that is correct. I mount mine with the slit facing rearwards but I don't think it makes any difference.
