I have a 98 CLK with dual climate control. Yesterday it was about 45 degrees out but the car was sitting in the sun. When I started the car the climate system blasted cold air out the center vents because the sun had warmed the interior to more than 70 degrees (set temperature). In that situation, does the system engage the AC to cool the interior, or does it realize that the outside temp is so low that it is not needed. Should I press the 'EC' button?

On this car, if the CC is on and the EC button is not selected, the compressor is on. It is variable rate, and can run all of the time. When little cooling is needed, the compressor can run down to <10% capacity.
