Unhappy Keyless Remotes Don't Work

I just bought my first MB. 1997 E420. I absolutely love it. But one of the keyless remotes didn't work; now the other one doesn't work. I'm not too familar with these sort of problems; but now my car cannot lock or unlock. Any suggestions?? I am a new member and I think this site is great. Thanks.

You can still lock the old fashion way...... bye turning the key. I can't even remember when I last did that as I'm always using the alarm button to unlock on all of my cars.

If it's anything like my SL, there is a procedure in the owner's manual to reinitialize the keyless remote once the battery in the remote has been replaced.

You have to put the key in the ignition tumbler and turn it to the I or II position to synchronize the remote with the car's computer. After that, the remote will be able to activate the keyless entry.

If that STILL doesn't work, then the remote must be replaced ($$$) . I have one good and one bad remote, so it's possible...
