How to "jump pins/ hot wire" fuel pump relay?

Relay is behind the battery.

My FPR is in my fuse box.
Relay looks like a black 1/2 pack of cigarettes.
I was having problems with my '85 500SEC shutting down at random times. I popped the relay open and found a bad solder joint. A simple fix and it hasn't shut down since.

I had to look at your profile to see what car you have. On your 190, it's near the battery. You will see 2 black relays, both about the size of a pack of smokes (not half that size as previously posted). One will say "KLIMA" on top, it's NOT that one, it's the other one. KLIMA is for the AC compressor clutch, the other one is the fuel pump relay.

Which pins and/or what wires are used.

As with all relays you hook the input to the output to jump. This is the total answer as if there is still a question then you shouldn't be doing such.

Just looking for some basic info from anyone who has done it, and can tell someone who hasn't done-it how to do it.

I believe it's circuit 30 and circuit 87. The are about in the middle of the 2 rows of pins (sockets) and directly across from each other.
There usually is a pin diagram printed on the relay itself, and also circuit or pin numbers on the bottom of the relay.

No problem Mel. You'll probably want to make sure you have some sort of jumper wire stashed away in the glovebox or trunk. You'd want to make one with the pins on the end like what the relay itself has. Remember the pump will run constantly with the relay jumped, so be sure to unplug it completely when the engine is shut off.
