outside temp display problem

My outside temp display had not been working (just bought the 94 E320). I also had a problem with the "indicator bulb out" flashing on when I turn on the headlamps sometimes. Then yesterday, I look down and the temp display is working! Later that day, it is again not working and I am again have the "indication bulb out" problem when I turn on my headlamps. I guess I am having a short or cross somewhere. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for your help.

Make a complete check of your light to make sure thay are operational. (I like to do this when I pull up to a picture window.) Also check the license plate lights. If everything checks out okay you may have a corroded lamp socket somewhere.

Your outside temp sensor may simply have gone bad or something is amiss with the wiring. Try wiggling the parts while somebody watches the display. This may give a clue. The sensor is just behind the front bumper.

The next time you click on the lights and the "bulb out" indicator lights up, take a moment to check out what bulb is dark. It may be dirty contacts, or it may be worn insulation or wire creating an occasional fault. I've got an infrequent bit of that with the right front parking light that I need to fix.
Don't know where your temp sensor is, but I'd be willing to guess it's up front (mine's behind where the front license plate would sit) and part of a wiring loom that also contains a front parking or headlamp run, with wear creating an occasional fault.
