Backup lights 240D
I bought a 1982 240D a month ago and don't know why the backup lights don't work. It has new bulbs and I've checked the backup switch at the gearshift and there is continunity. Where else could I look?

Just looked in the MB electrical manual. Circuits don't get any simpler. Power starts at fuse F14 to pin #1 at connector C146 to back up light switch and back to pin #2 of C146 then to pin #6 at connector C104 in the trunk and then to pin #4 at both tail light assemblys. Take the fuse out and look at it even if it looks good. F14 also supplies the horn.
Good luck, Peter

Eyeball that back-up switch again. I have seen where the switch slips out of the sleeve it is held in with, resulting in the gear shift lever, falling just shy of actually actuating the switch.
