Anyone have first-hand knowledge as to the performance of Water Wetter? Any "noticeable" reduction in operating temps? I'm especially interested in reduction during stop-n-go traffic since that's when the temp usually rises 10+ degrees.

Thanks for any feedback (positive or negative).

Note: I did check Red Line's webpage and tech data sheet on Water Wetter -- pretty impressive, tho' I want unbiased testamonials ;).

Yes, it's good stuff. Used it in both of my 16V's. It is a "surfactant" which breaks down the surface tension of the water to supposedly give a better water to metal contact. At any rate, it can't hurt.

I have it in my '74 MGB Roadster, which, when in stop & go traffic, feels like it has the world's smallest radiator.

It seems to have lowered temp about 10 degrees. My experience says it works.

I added WW to my 300D. My coolant color changed. Did any of you who are using it experience coolant color change?

Please say yes...my coolant looks a little brown. The original color of the coolant was the typical yellow/green.

As an architect, we deal with colors all the time. When you add red WaterWetter to a green coolant, the resultant will be slightly brown. But it should not be a lot of brown, for the little bottle of WW should not make the larger volume of green that much more brown.

When was the last time you checked or filled your radiator? ight there be some rust discoloration in your coolant?......Andras

The coolant was new in July of '99. Since then I have put 50k miles on. Although time wise it wouldn't be time to change, I would imagine that mileage wise, it is probably time. The coolant, as far as I remember, was its reg. color before adding the WW. Now it looks a little like coffee with just a touch of cream.
So, looks like I will be doing a coolant flush on Saturday. I'll keep my eye on it for a while, and then will add WW, and see what happens next.

I agree that it might be time.

Let's not forget that when ANY car manufacturer states that such and such maintenance should be done within so many miles, they ASSUME that the average car gets driven about 12-15,000 miles per year. Thus when MB says change your coolant every two years, they anticipated that would be 30,000 miles max. But if you get over 40,000 miles per year, it might be safe to assume that the coolant has been exposed to heat and circulation for the same amount of time as those two years would have taken.

Besides, changing your own coolant costs only the price of the coolant - cheap insurance in my concept of calculated risks. And yes, I have done the calculations!!!!......Andras
