Can Bowden Cable be Too Tight?

What happens if the Bowden cable is too tight? Will it damage the tran?

When I was adjusting mine it looked like if the cable was adjusted to tight it would cause the throttle cable to not extend all the way. If then you would try to slam the gas pedal into the floor it seems like it might stress the throttle linkage and break it.

Yes, You can adjust it too tight. Then, as an example with the 190E 2.3, you can see the throttle is moved off of its rest position (idle)

I have a PDF file that I can send you that has this cable adjustment procedure. If you need it, email me.

Sorry for hijacking this topic.

zeronero, since you have an Acura CL-S and a 400E, in the real world which one do you feel is faster?

I am always curious about it since these two cars have almost the same power/weight ratio, 400E has a ridiculous tall 1st gear but it also has much more torque than CL.

The CL is faster, or at least seems faster in the real world. The problem with the 400E is that when it is not floored it's tall first gear makes it seem slower. It can be a mind thing as well, I am still not used to such a hard accelerator, when I push it I feel as if I'm fighting with the car to go faster. The CL has the 5-speed which is the difference. I actually sold the CL a while go, it was junk. That list is off all the cars I have owned.
