Sunroof adjustment procedure... HELP!! Just replaced the seals of the manual sunroof of my 123 wagon. The problem now is the rear sunroof lid is lower than the roof. How and where do I adjust it to lift it up. With regard to the front end, there's not much of a problem, I found the height adjusting screw at the front end of the rail. Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance! - Tippee |

Rear height adjustment sunroof? Anybody? I have the same problem. My sunroof was correct height until I replaced the rear seal. Now it is about a quarter of an inch low. I keep hoping the seal will compress but it hasn't so far(even in 100 degree heat). How did you fix the rear height? I tried adding shims under the screws on the lifting bridge. I cannot figure how to use the hook shaped thing that I am sure would solve my problem. Also I cannot find the hole for the rear sunroof drain. How far back is it? Thanks for any help, Jason 1985 300D (turbo with empty alda dustcap!) |

Sun Roof rear adjustment I am just performing maintenance on my sun roof -- 92 300CE and the rear adjustment on that model involves removing the headlining, loosening the screws on the retaining brackets on each side (with the sun roof closed), then adjusting the height of the sun roof at the rear and tightening the retaining bracket screws. The printed details show that you need a centering pin inserted on each side to maintain proper positioning of the sun roof panel. You should be able to find those details somewhere on the web or in this forum for your car, but the approach is probably very similar. BC |

Locking mechanism. It has to do with the amount of pressure the locking arms put on those little "ramps" on either side. Abot 3/4 of the way in, on those arms, there's an 8mm adjuster nut. Loosen that nut, and then lengthen the arm (slide it away from the centerline of the vehicle) a mm or so, tighten the nut, and try closing the roof. If it still isn't going all the way up, repeat the procedure. Mine is leaking like mad. How do the side seals go in? Haven't ordered them/looked at it too closely yet. The rear was a breeze. So was, for that matter, removing the roof panel ('79 TD)! Great design! To bad the had to muck it up on the sedans by adding that blasted motor.... Jay. |

I too am working on the sunroof of a 79 TD I agree a motor would be problematic. Hey, how did you get to the back sunroof seal? I just got a set of seals from phil, but I cannot figure out how to get to the back one. do I have to remove the entire headliner? also, on the side seals/guides, how do you get the back screw out? it appears to be at an angle, making it impossible to remove... maybe I am missing something. take down the interior panel while the roof is closed... hmm just pondering here. I have all the side screws out, and I have partially removed the side seals, if I have to close the roof, it is gonna be difficult. John |
